CAPTAIN'S CORNER
Mixed Away Day

Our mixed away day to Felixstowe Ferry last Friday was a tremendous success, with 56 members making the trip and enjoying a fantastic day of golf and good company.

We were blessed with beautiful weather from start to finish, and Felixstowe Ferry presented itself in excellent condition. Despite some challenging circumstances facing the club on the day, the hospitality we received was superb, and our thanks go to everyone at Felixstowe Ferry for making us feel so welcome.
The scoring was impressive across the field, with plenty of pairs making the most of the favourable conditions. Congratulations go to Jason Bishop and Peter Page, who took top honours with an outstanding 46 points. Second place went to John & Julie Little on countback with 44 points from Stuart Frost and Kevin Kibble-White who were third.

A special mention must also go to Peter Little, who had a hole-in-one on the 12th. It's always a memorable moment to witness such an achievement.

Away days are always a wonderful opportunity to enjoy golf at different venues, catch up with fellow members and strengthen the friendships that make our club so special. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day such an enjoyable occasion.

Captain / Pro Challenge

Following a narrow one-hole defeat in our opening Captain / Pro Match against Steve Fulford and David Travers a few weeks ago, Ryan and I were keen to get our campaign back on track when we faced Rod Gainsford and Angus Mackenzie on Tuesday.

It was a closely contested match, Rod, and Angus proved formidable opponents and ensured there was very little margin for error.

The match remained tight throughout and eventually went all the way to the final holes. Ryan was understandably disappointed to bogey the 17th - remarkably the only blemish on an otherwise superb card.

In the end, we managed to sneak home with a hard-fought one-hole victory, levelling our record at one win and one loss after the opening two matches. My thanks to Steve, David, Rod and Angus for two very enjoyable games.

And finally .................... Best of luck to everyone taking part in the Club Championship this weekend - play well!

Kind regards

Rule of the Week

Oliver has to drop his ball having received relief from an immovable obstruction.

He does everything correctly, dropping the ball from the correct height and in the correct place.

However, after the ball hits the ground, the ball rolls onto his feet and stops in the best possible lie in the relief area.

What is the ruling?

A - He incurs a 1 shot penalty for the ball hitting him and must redrop the ball

B - There is no penalty and he must play the ball as it lies (lucky boy!)

C - There is no penalty but he must re-drop the ball
