Members Survey

It is now a few years since our last online Members Survey (and 6 years since our 1st survey of this kind).

Since we have already embarked upon the initial stage of our Long-Term Plan - and given we committed to periodically review progress - we think now would be an excellent time time to conduct our next Members Survey.

The format is very straightforward, pretty much identical to the previous two surveys, and using the same leading golf research company, Players 1st, which means we will be able to track and compare results over time.

As such, you will receive an email from Players 1st on the 29th July with all the relevant detail, so please do look out for this in your email inbox. The survey shouldn't take longer than 15 minutes to complete, so please do try to take the time to answer all the questions as the more members participate, the more representative the findings.

Many thanks in advance.

Membership and Communications Director

Rule of the Week

Gary and Tony are playing the 13th at Sheringham and Gary’s drive drifts to the right and into some gorse.  Tony’s drive does the same.  They both decide to declare their ball unplayable and decide to drop their ball within 2 club lengths as they are entitled to do under penalty of one stroke.  They mark their balls and using their drivers they mark two club lengths which brings them out of the gorse.

Tony drops his ball and it comes to rest within the 2 club’s lengths in the rough.  Gary drops his ball in the correct area but it bounces away and comes to rest within 2 club’s lengths but it has rolled back into the gorse.

Is he entitled to re-drop his ball without penalty because it has rolled back into the gorse?

Answer: No  -   Once he has dropped his ball and it is within the 2 club’s lengths, not nearer the hole, the ball is back in play.  He must decide again how to proceed.  He will need to declare it unplayable again or try and play it.
